In partnership with the nonprofit Native Action Network, Native Strategies facilitated the annual Young Native Women’s Leadership Academy. In October 2011, young Native women from around the Pacific Northwest region gathered at the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Little Creek Resort. Women leaders from all walks of life guide workshops and provide networking and mentoring opportunities. Elders offer insights from their experiences. Young Native women learn and practice leadership skills. The Native Action Network provides an environment in which Native women – daughters, mothers, granddaughters, great-grandmothers, and others – can interact with one another, share knowledge, and honor Native women making a difference in their communities. Native Action Network gatherings and annual events unite Native women of all ages and create forums to celebrate the power of women in creating positive change.
